Through partnering with Four Directions Counseling, utilizing various art forms, and embodiment techniques we were able to create a safe, therapeutic space for participants to work through trauma, let go of that which no longer served them, and build community. This workshop was created in partnership with Abbie Jean Litman and inspired the thematic content of the performance of Is Love So Small A Pain; the workshop participants also made an appearance in the performance as the Chorus - utilizing some of the embodiment movement work learned in our Salvia workshop. Her husband, Jason, has abandoned Medea and their two sons to marry King Creon’s daughter. Afraid of Medea’s future interference, Creon banishes her and her children; however, not before giving Medea the opening she needs to enact plans for survival. This piece is dedicated to survivors, and aims to shine a light on domestic abuse and those still haunted by their experiences.
